Bruce Power supplier partners donate $75,000 to Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario

In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Bruce Power’s supplier partners are making a donation of $75,000 to the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO).

Pat Dalzell, Bruce Power’s Head of Corporate Affairs, said the donation will support POGO in ensuring that all children with cancer in Ontario, their families, and survivors have equitable access to the best care for the best possible outcomes.

“Bruce Power is pleased to announce this donation on behalf of its nuclear supply chain partners,” Dalzell said. “Bruce Power and our supply chain are proud to support the important work that POGO does to support children and families in their time of need.

“This donation also aligns with Bruce Power’s role as a global supplier of medical isotopes used in cancer treatment and sterilization of medical equipment,” Dalzell continued. “Bruce Power’s nuclear supply chain partners play a key role in supporting our operations, enabling us to ensure doctors and patients have access to medical isotopes when they need them.”

“We are inspired by the multiple partners and passionate donors who share our vision,” said Jill Ross, Chief Executive Officer at POGO. “And we are grateful to Bruce Power and its supplier partners for their dedication to charitable giving, despite the disruption caused by the COVID pandemic and cancellation of their annual charitable events.”

The Bruce Power Charitable Events Sponsorship Program aligns the company’s vendor partners with local, provincial and national non-profit organizations that focus on Indigenous youth, health and wellness organizations, Canadian veterans and local Legions, food banks, provincial vaccination efforts, and hospital foundations. More than 35 suppliers supported the program, which will donate $570,000 to these initiatives in 2021.
