The annual Discover Energized Environmental Resources (DEER) program wrapped up the school year at the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre recently, when Saugeen Conservation Education Coordinator Nancy Griffin hosted Grade 4 and 5 students from Paisley.

It was another successful year for the program, with about 2,000 students and teachers participating in a multitude of activities that ranged from forest and wetland exploration to animal habitat and sustainability studies.

Bruce Power sponsors 64 programs on an annual basis for elementary and secondary schools in the Bruce-Grey Catholic and Bluewater school boards. The programs are conducted at the Visitors’ Centre and Conservation Areas at Inglis Falls and Sulphur Springs. Buses are provided by Bruce Power.

More information about the DEER program can be found on the Bruce Power website at www.brucepower.com/community/visitorscentre/educational-resources.
