Bruce Power’s Unit 7 sets new long-run record
TIVERTON, ON – August 21, 2012 – For the second time this year, one of Bruce Power’s units has set a new long-run record.
Unit 7 recently eclipsed 439 days of safe, continuous energy production, setting a new company record for the reactor, which now sits at 452 days and counting.
“The safe and reliable operation from Unit 7 is a testament to the dedicated maintenance and investment programs we’ve put into place on the unit recently,” said Pete Milojevic, Senior Vice President, Bruce B. “We’re confident Unit 7 will continue to safely provide clean energy to Ontario homes, schools, hospitals and businesses for months to come.”
Earlier this summer, Unit 4 also set a long-run record of over 570 days, more than doubling its previous, post-refurbishment best of 267 days. Unit 4 was removed from service in early-August for a 135-day planned maintenance outage.
