Bruce Power supplies 30 per cent of Ontario’s electricity at 30 per cent less than the average cost to generate residential power. The operation of the Bruce site through 2064 will create and sustain 22,000 direct and indirect jobs annually, while creating $4 billion in annual Ontario economic benefit through the direct and indirect spending on operational equipment, supplies, materials and labour income.

“The award of this contract to Amec Foster Wheeler has been the result of significant efforts made by the Feeder Replacement project team,” said Kyle Cherrett, Senior Program Manager, Feeder Replacement Program. “This design work will support the life extension for the first of six units. The continued operation of the CANDU reactors, which are among the safest in the world, will allow Bruce Power to supply Ontario with environmentally friendly and dependable power well into the future.”

“We are proud to support this important aspect of the Life Extension Program, enabling Bruce Power to continue to provide safe, reliable nuclear power to Ontario families and businesses. Amec Foster Wheeler has been a primary supplier to Bruce Power for 14 years, providing key support in engineering and operational analysis including support for the Bruce Units 1 & 2 Refurbishment project,” said John Mackinnon, President of Amec Foster Wheeler’s nuclear business in North America.
