The July-August bus tour program at the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre wrapped up on Aug. 28, far exceeding expectations with its return this summer after a 13 year hiatus.

Nearly 1,700 members of the public took part in 44 tours over the summer months with every bus going out full. Originally staged on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1 and 2 p.m., two Tuesday tours were added for the month of August to help meet overwhelming demand.

“Even with the extra tour day we still had people on waiting lists,”

said James Scongack, Vice President, Corporate Affairs.

“Many of them visited the Visitors’ Centre anyway to check out the exhibits and hourly film presentations.”
In addition to the tour participants, approximately 2,500 visitors dropped in to the Visitors’ Centre without appointment in July and August, bringing the total number of drop-in visitors to more than 3,500 so far in 2014.

Saturday, Aug. 30, is the last day of the summer program at the Visitors’ Centre with regular Monday-to-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. hours (closed statutory holidays) resuming after Labour Day.
