James Scongack, VP, Corporate Affairs, presented Community Living in Port Elgin with a cheque for $50,000. This donation is part of a $100,000 two-year commitment to Community Living Owen Sound and District.

“We recognize the need for this type of program and expansion of facilities in the community,”

Scongack said.

“We also know how difficult it is to secure funding for bigger projects of this nature and really want to encourage everyone to try to support this initiative.”

Plans for an addition to the existing Community Living facilities in Port Elgin are well underway with construction set to start in the spring.

“We’re excited about having a ‘teaching’ kitchen and meeting room to hold about eight to 12 people comfortably,”

said Nicole Hatten, Community Support Worker.

“At the same time, we will also be looking at accessibility and incorporating an additional washroom and storage space.”

The addition and renovation project is expected to be completed in the fall.
