Burns & McDonnell and Modus Strategic Solutions have opened a new office in Tiverton, Ontario, to support the implementation of comprehensive Project Controls improvements across Bruce Power. The new location can house up to 25 employees including engineers, construction professionals, IT and legal.

“I am pleased to see Burns & McDonnell and Modus Strategic Solutions establish a local presence,” said Mitch Twolan, Warden of Bruce County. “The expertise and knowledge they will bring to our area helps us to continue to move forward with establishing a nuclear industry regional hub, able to support and sustain Bruce Power in our communities, as it begins its Life-Extension Program journey.”

Burns & McDonnell and Modus consultants have designed and supported the integration of Bruce Power’s Project Controls platforms to enhance its capability for managing its Major Component Replacement (MCR) Project, as well as all site Asset Management, sustaining capital and life-extension projects.

“It is important for Bruce Power to implement an industry-leading Project Controls system that utilizes fully integrated and enterprise-wide project management tools, processes and trained personnel to safely deliver projects on schedule, on budget and with quality,” said Ray Hruby, Bruce Power’s Vice President, Project Controls. “The team is working on many necessary projects, including the Major Component Replacements, which are vital to the continued safe and reliable operation of the Bruce Power nuclear units.”

Ryan Smith, Director of Canadian Operations for Modus said the company is grateful for the opportunity to become part of the community, and his employees are looking forward to working on the site.

“Our team will help Bruce Power’s project organizations effectively plan their work, identify and mitigate risks, monitor performance, support resolution of issues and predict project outcomes during execution of all of Bruce Power’s upcoming capital projects and programs,” Smith said. This program is vitally important for the Province of Ontario and Bruce Power, said Rick Halil, Vice President, Burns & McDonnell-Canada and General Manager of the firm’s Energy Division.

“Burns & McDonnell has extensive experience in program management of critical infrastructure projects and we are pleased to combine our expertise with Modus to meet Bruce Power’s objectives,” Halil said.

“Burns & McDonnell is committed to helping clients in Ontario and throughout Canada solve their most critical infrastructure challenges and we are excited about this opportunity to work with Bruce Power,” added Mike Brown, President of Burns & McDonnell-Canada.
