A proud supplier of innovative products and services to the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station since it went online in 1977, BWXT Canada (BWXT) has opened an office in Port Elgin, Ontario to support its customer Bruce Power. Proximity to Bruce Power will foster increased collaboration between the two companies while demonstrating BWXT’s long-term commitment to executing work associated with Bruce’s life extension program.

“We are excited to be a member of the Port Elgin community,” said John MacQuarrie, President BWXT Canada. “Bruce Power is a very significant customer of ours, and their success is critical to the Canadian nuclear industry. We are very pleased to be supporting Bruce Power with high-quality products and services, and we are enhancing our support by being closer in proximity. We look forward to becoming part of this vibrant community.”

BWXT supplies Bruce Power with field services to inspect, repair and maintain the plant’s critical nuclear components. Many of those components, such as steam generators, are also manufactured by BWXT.

The company plans to grow its presence in the Saugeen Shores community over time, which will help create a number of employment opportunities.

“Our partnership with BWXT helps ensure the success of our life extension program, and their expansion into our region is an important part of moving forward with that effort,” said Mike Rencheck, President & CEO, Bruce Power. “Suppliers like BWXT bring innovation and technology to service our facility and their expansion into our region is critical in forming a long term, high performing team that will deliver our projects on time and on budget.”

Mitch Twolan, the Warden of Bruce County, congratulated BWXT on their expansion to the region, and welcomed them to the area.

“On behalf of the County, I welcome BWXT to Port Elgin and congratulate them on their commitment to our regional economy. Our partnership with Bruce Power and the opportunities that supplier expansions bring to the area will help communities across our region to grow and prosper for decades to come.”
