The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission will hold the second part of its hearings into Bruce Power’s 10-year Licence Renewal application from May 28-31, in Kincardine.

The hearing, which is open to the public, will be held at the Marriott TownePlace Suites in Kincardine. It will feature a number of intervenors speaking about Bruce Power, while also being available for questions from members of the Commission.

“We look forward to the Part 2 hearings as we continue to move forward with our application for a 10-year extension to our operating licence,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO. “The application to our regulator is an open, transparent process that allows the public to have input into the process and better understand Bruce Power’s continued safe operations. We welcome the opportunity to answer questions the public and members of the Commission have in regard to our safe operations.”

Bruce Power has requested a 10-year licence extension for the first time, in order for the company to have the regulatory requirements in place to continue with its Life-Extension Program, which includes the Major Component Replacement Project, beginning in 2020.

If you cannot attend the hearing in person, it will be webcast on the CNSC website at http://nuclearsafety.gc.ca/eng/the-commission/webcasts/.
