Occupational Health and Safety Policy

We assure ‘Safety First’ before proceeding with any activity.

At Bruce Power, our Number 1 value is ‘Safety First.’

Our strong safety culture and healthy workplace environment are at the heart of everything we do. This is essential to achieving our long-term business goals. Everything we do is designed to minimize risk to the public, visitors, contractors and our employees. Though we consistently report to many regulatory bodies, we always strive to do better than the expectations of our governing bodies, and our Conventional Health and Safety Programs have consistently been considered a strength by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in its annual report card on our operations, achieving a rating of Fully Satisfactory (or A+) each year since 2012.

Our goal for our employees is zero occupational injuries and illnesses, and we are always striving to eclipse our record of over 22 million hours without an acute lost-time injury, which was achieved in 2010.

Legal requirements are just the starting point. Our Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system goes far beyond legal requirements and is designed for continual improvement. We adopt proven best-in-class practices vital to sustainable top quartile performance. It’s good for our employees, good for everyone.

Read our General Safety Rules for all employees, contractors and visitors.
