THE DEVELOPMENT STUDENT PROGRAM
Bruce Power’s Development Student program is offered to full-time college and university students. These temporary opportunities are designed to provide training and experience related to the candidate’s post secondary program. The program encourages participants to learn about the broad scope of career options available at Bruce Power while offering practical work experience. Students from a wide variety of academic and skill/trade training curriculums are eligible for Bruce Power’s Development Student Program. Some examples of post secondary school programs (College or University) from which we select students are: - Engineering (all disciplines)
- Environmental Science
- Power Engineering
- Engineering Technology/Technician
- Instrumentation and Control and Mechanical Technology/Technician
- Computer Science
- Science
- Business Administration (General, HR, Operations, Marketing, Accounting, etc.)
- Fire Protection Technology
- Ergonomics
- Mathematics
- Communications
Consideration for these positions are only given to students who are currently enrolled in a post secondary institution, have completed a minimum of one year post-secondary studies, and can demonstrate that they will be returning to full-time, post-secondary studies directly following their work term or demonstrate that the work term is required to fulfill their degree/diploma requirements for graduation purposes. In addition, students must provide current academic record/transcript to verify passing grades and should have the following skills and competencies:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong PC skills
- Good analytical skills
- Dependable and self motivated
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team
- A strong understanding of safety in the workplace
