High School Co-op positions are managed by the local school board. Interested High School Students should consult their Guidance Counsellors regarding potential opportunities at Bruce Power.
What is the difference between Development Student, Summer Student, High School Co-op Student opportunities? Development Student opportunities provide practical training and experience related to the post-secondary academic program or skills training that the student is enrolled in. This may include both formal and non-formal co-operative positions. These positions are temporary.
Summer Students do not require specific academic knowledge or skills in order to perform the duties of the job. These temporary positions are chosen through a lottery process.

How do I apply to a specific student opportunity? Student vacancies are posted the same as other Bruce Power vacancies under Current Opportunities.
Students can only apply online prior to the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted.
Go to the Staff & Careers page - select Current Opportunities – positions – register.
Candidates must register their email address to create a user name and password prior to accessing our recruiter system and viewing current postings.
After you have registered, you can then select the logon link under the registered user’s information and search for the vacancy of interest and submit an application.
Bruce Power does not accept hardcopy resumes or applications.
It is imperative students provide a current e-mail address with their online application. This will ensure applicants receive the auto acknowledgement within 24 hours of submitting the online application which confirms receipt of the online application
What happens after I apply? Within 24 hours of submitting the application an email auto acknowledgement will be sent to the e-mail address provided on the online application. If you do not receive the confirmation check any “anti spam filters” that may be set up on your email system.
After the closing date all applications are assessed for suitability and successful candidates will be contacted by email/phone for an interview. It is not uncommon for us to receive several hundred applications for each posted student opportunity therefore the simple task of assessing and reviewing all the potential candidates is time consuming and can take up to two or three weeks to complete.
Given the volume of responses we receive for the available opportunities we are unable to provide “status updates” on applications. Bruce Power kindly requests student applicants refrain from making calls seeking an update on their application.
When will I be given an interview? You will only be contacted after the initial acknowledgement if you are called for an interview. Details of the date, time and venue and any special requirements will be indicated in the interview request. Interviews may take place over several days.
Summer Students are selected by lottery draw and are not interviewed.
What happens after the interview? Checks will be made to confirm passing grades and proof to return to school. If successful, candidates will be sent a conditional offer of employment letter which will include an extensive information pack and forms to be completed and returned in a timely manner.
It is vital that the forms are returned as quickly as possible as we need to seek medical and security clearances before applicants gain access to the site.
Obtaining medical and security clearances can take upwards of two weeks. Once received, applicants will be contacted. If you are unsuccessful in meeting the security and/or medical clearances you will be notified via email or letter.
Why does it take so long? There are a number of steps involved in the hiring process and some of them, such as obtaining security clearances, are outside the control of Bruce Power.
We are constantly reviewing our practices to help shorten the timeline as ask for your patience. |
