With activities ramping up at Bruce A during a station containment outage, nearby residents may hear increased levels of sound from diesel compressors and roof vents during the daytime hours from May 6 to 12.
The activities may or may not be audible to nearby residents, depending on the weather and wave levels on the lake. A noise consultant has been contracted to perform noise monitoring at nearby locations during the activities.
The station containment outage is scheduled to begin on May 6 to allow workers to inspect and test the structures that contain reactor systems at Bruce A. Maintenance on the station’s Emergency Coolant Injection System will also be performed.
Units 1 and 4 will return to service later this month, with additional maintenance being completed this spring on Unit 2 and this summer in Unit 3.
