Bruce Power named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for the seventh straight year

A prestigious competition has named Bruce Power one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for the seventh consecutive year.

The award, which is a part of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, recognized Bruce Power for its focus on young employees through the on-site North American Young Generation Nuclear (NA-YGN) organization, and its development student and internship programs.

“In the competition for talent, a key variable for millennials and Gen-Z is the ability to connect their work with greater meaning – that’s where winners of this year’s competition excel,” said Kristina Leung, Senior Editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, which manages the competition. “Whether on a personal or professional level, the employers chosen for this year’s list provide opportunities for career growth and advancement – as well as opportunities to support broader social causes through community projects and volunteerism.”

Cathy Sprague, Bruce Power’s Executive Vice President, Human Resources, said being recognized for the seventh consecutive year shows the company – and the nuclear industry – provides an attractive career for young people.

“Bruce Power has invested a lot of time and resources into developing young people into becoming the future leaders of our company,” Sprague said. “This is an exciting time for Bruce Power and Ontario’s nuclear industry. We are two years into our Life-Extension Program, which will provide innovative and exciting careers for two generations or workers.

“It’s encouraging to once again be recognized by Canada’s Top 100 Employers for our work with young people, and we will continue to focus on the people who will lead Bruce Power into the future.”

Krista Gill, co-chair of the Bruce Chapter of NA-YGN, said Bruce Power is a leader in providing stable, long-term jobs to young people, while also providing an excellent work-life balance and opportunities for professional development.

“Bruce Power’s top executives take seriously their role of laying the groundwork for younger employees to one day fill their role,” Gill said. “By taking professional development of young employees seriously, Bruce Power is ensuring itself of a strong organizational foundation as the site’s life is extended through to 2064.”
