Supplier Spotlight: Acuren

Acuren Nuclear Services (ANS) has more than 40 years of experience in the nuclear industry and for the past 10 years has made Port Elgin its local home.

The Port Elgin office was built in 2008 as a long-term commitment to both Bruce Power and the local community. Since then, ANS has invested heavily in its Port Elgin location where it is now the head office for all ANS operations, managing work across Canada and abroad.

The Port Elgin ANS Head Office houses the senior management team, subject matter experts and program managers.  The senior team members and their families are active members of the Bruce County and are committed personally to local growth and prosperity.

ANS also recognizes the importance of being a good corporate citizen by participating in local organizations that improve the lives of people in the local community. One of the most recent community events ANS supported was the sponsorship and hosting of the “Support the Women’s Centre” event on Jan. 25. The event raised $8,000 for The Women’s Centre Grey and Bruce.

Mike Benham, ANS GM, was inspired by the local businesses participation in an event to help better our local area and announced that the event would be an annual one. ANS is also a silver sponsor for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron in Support of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation on Aug. 19.

This past September, the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Businesses (CCAB) recognized ANS in its Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) program, awarded ANS a committed-level certification. PAR Committed participation indicates ANS’ commitment to continual improvement in Aboriginal relations and intention to undergo external verification of ANS’ performance in the future.
