Huron Wind update

On Friday, May 4 one of the Huron Wind turbines located adjacent to the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre was damaged during high winds.

The damage occurred to the tip of one of the turbine blades. The turbine has been stabilized and remains offline while repairs are completed.

The remaining four Huron Wind Turbines returned to service on May 9 after being shut down May 4 to ensure there were no safety concerns.

There was a strong wind warning in effect by Environment Canada with wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h across the region.

Established in November, 2002, Huron Wind is comprised of five 1.8 megawatt wind turbines.
