Bruce Power to celebrate summer with ‘Block Party’ in downtown Port Elgin

Bruce Power will celebrate summer a little differently this year, when it moves its annual party from the beach to downtown Port Elgin.

The Bruce Power Block Party will be held Saturday, July 21, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and will feature a free family midway and inflatables, clown balloon artists, face painting, and performances by the Zacada Circus Show, which is operated  by former Cirque du Soleil artists and features hand balancers, acrobats, and aerialists. Performances will be held in the Port Elgin Missionary Church, at 650 Green St., at noon, 1:30, 3 and 4:30 p.m. There is limited seating for each show, so plan to arrive early.

Free carnival food, including pogos (noon-2 p.m.); cotton candy (1-3 p.m.); ice cream (2-4 p.m.); and popcorn (at the Zacada performances) will be available as supplies last.

The event, which will be held in the Bricker and Green Street area of downtown Port Elgin, will culminate with a stunning fireworks display at Main Beach, at dusk.

“The Block Party promises to be an exciting afternoon of entertainment for the whole family,” said Chris Mercanti, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations. “We look forward to this opportunity to get together with our employees and the community to celebrate, and to offer our thanks for the incredible support we receive across the region.”
