Global design firm Stantec opened a local office in Kincardine last September.
“Our relationship with Bruce Power, and the commitment they have made to our Stantec team, is a key factor to our locating an office and staff in Kincardine,” said Kevin Fergin, regional business leader with Stantec in a news release. “We also look forward to further opportunities within Bruce County and the surrounding area. Many of our staff have roots in the area, so we feel a personal commitment to the County and to the success of the projects that help develop the community.”
Stantec has provided a number of services for Bruce Power’s new office complex and training facility in Kincardine. As well, Stantec will perform an environmental study of a pipeline that will bring natural gas to Bruce County. EPCOR Utilities Inc. has retained Stantec to study the construction and operation of the pipeline. If approved by the Ontario Energy Board, construction of the pipeline is expected to begin in 2019.
The Bruce Power Kincardine office project began in March 2017, with a conceptual building and site layout already completed. The facility, which is expected to open in early 2019, includes a two-storey office area, one-storey high-bay shop area for training, storm-water management pond, and water booster station. It will provide space for about 500 workers.
