Bruce Power is committing $1.45 million over the next five years with $250,000 apiece being allocated to the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation, the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation and $100,000 apiece to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, the Wingham District Hospital Foundation, Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation, Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation, Meaford Hospital Foundation, Chesley & District Health Services Foundation, and Hanover & District Hospital Foundation. This commitment will support the efforts of the foundations to provide the latest equipment and services while recognizing the important work and services provided by local hospitals to local residents and visitors.
Bruce Power announced last summer that it will focus $2 million of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget between 2019 and 2023 on health care, mental health and education initiatives.
“Among the most important issues for families in the community are the quality of health care and education, so we decided in 2018 to focus a significant portion of our Community Investment and Sponsorship budget on those areas to help local organizations continue to provide the best care for people,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO. “Today’s announcement is the start of our commitment to assist local communities in making sure they offer high-quality health care.”
For the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation, the $250,000 coming from Bruce Power over the next five years will allow the foundation to support the health-care needs of the community.
“Bruce Power’s five-year sponsorship provides a dependable annual resource which will greatly assist the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation in achieving its annual goal to provide the crucial funding required for priority medical equipment and projects for the Wiarton Hospital,” Executive Director April Patry said. “This fundamental collaboration with our Foundation demonstrates Bruce Power’s commitment to ensure that excellent, local health care is available to Bruce Peninsula residents and visitors.”
Tonight’s announcement continues a longstanding relationship between Bruce Power and Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation in providing high-quality, patient-centred care close to home.

Bruce Power has such a strong sense of social responsibility and is always there to engage, assist and champion the needs and causes close to home,” said Tracy Murray, Executive Director, Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. “This recent five-year pledge will help to make planning easier for future purchases of essential and life-saving equipment for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital. Having a local health-care facility that can be a first point of care is vital to our community.”
Bruce Power’s $250,000 commitment to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation will be used towards Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology.

The announcement of the commitments to the Owen Sound, Saugeen Memorial and the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundations was made Saturday evening (February 2) during the Ontario Hockey League game between the Windsor Spitfires and Owen Sound Attack at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
