They were presented their awards by David Abbott, middle, Director of Community & Indigenous Relations at Bruce Power, at centre ice during a ceremonial puck drop on March 9. Zach Poirier, of the Owen Sound Attack, and Nick Suzuki, of the Guelph Storm, also took part in the ceremony. Congratulations to these talented young athletes!

Bruce Power, Owen Sound Attack present Indigenous bursaries

Through Bruce Power’s partnership with the Owen Sound Attack, four Indigenous Youth Sports Bursaries of $750 each were awarded to local individuals who excel in sports, academics and community involvement.

This year’s recipients are Rose Kewageshig, of Saugeen First Nation, and Maddy Linklater, Taylor Chegahno and Reed Stauffer, of Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.

This year marked the sixth time awards were presented to youth from the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, bringing the total bursaries awarded through this partnership to $18,000. Bruce Power and the Attack are proud of this component of the partnership and are pleased to recognize the achievements of the four extraordinary Indigenous youth.
