In light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in India, Bruce Power has made a $20,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to support preparedness, response, and recovery activities in India.
“Throughout the pandemic, Bruce Power has been committed to supporting our local community and the province through the COVID-19 health crisis,” said Pat Dalzell, Bruce Power’s Head of Corporate Affairs. “India is experiencing a critical surge in coronavirus cases, with the country’s health care system stretched beyond capacity, and supplies running short. This donation will support the Canadian Red Cross in its efforts to offer assistance to those affected in India.”
Since March 2020, Bruce Power has provided over 2.5 million pieces of PPE to frontline workers, businesses, Indigenous communities and schools – the largest announced donation from Canada’s private sector. With help from the nuclear supply chain, the company raised over $500,000 for food banks across Grey, Bruce and Huron counties and distributed 50,000 litres of hand sanitizer to small businesses, organizations, Indigenous communities, and local school boards. In addition, Bruce Power collaborated with health units across the province, including in Grey and Bruce counties, to provide resources and logistical support to convert hockey arenas into mass immunization hubs.
