Once again, Bruce Power has been recognized by Canada’s Top Employers for Young People as a national leader in attracting and retaining young workers.

For the eighth year in a row, Bruce Power is being honoured by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project for its focus on young employees through the on-site North American Young Generation Nuclear (NAYGN) organization, and for developing future employees through its student and internship programs.

“The trend is organizations trying to connect young people with a sense of purpose,” said Kristina Leung, Senior Editor at Mediacorp Canada Inc., which organizes the annual competition. “They are showing prospective employees what it is that the organization does, and how young people can fit into that long-term purpose. Or they are extending it to a broader purpose such as charity work that the organization supports.”

Cathy Sprague, Bruce Power’s Executive Vice President, Human Resources, said being recognized once again reflects the company’s success in providing opportunities for young people to have long, fulfilling careers in the nuclear industry.

“Bruce Power attracts highly motivated people looking for opportunities, and we offer the ability to move them through a variety of roles, which makes for a career that’s challenging and very rewarding,” Sprague said. “We have embarked on a long-term plan of nuclear refurbishment, and will operate our site until 2064, so we have many career opportunities for young people to pursue, from engineering and project management, to operations, as well as support work in our supply chain, HR and finance departments.

“We’re extremely proud of being honoured eight years in a row by Canada’s Top 100 Employers for our work with young people. We will continue to make sure they have amazing opportunities for long-term jobs at Bruce Power.”

Emma Paul, co-chair of the Bruce Chapter of NAYGN, said Bruce Power is a leader in providing challenging and interesting careers to young people.

“The leadership group at Bruce Power has made it a priority to give its young employees opportunities that go beyond creating jobs, so we congratulate the company on once again being named to the Canada’s Top Employer for Young People list,” Paul said. “There is an ongoing commitment to developing leadership and professional skills that aligns the company very well with the vision and mission of NAYGN.

“That focus and commitment will provide opportunities to its young employees to lead Bruce Power into the future. For that reason, the company will continue to be an attractive employer to young women and men for many years to come.”
