Bruce Power has donated $15,840 to the St. John Ambulance Grey-Bruce-Huron Branch to purchase professional CPR Monitor ‘Manikins’ and ‘Baby Buddy Manikins’ to improve upon their current training supplies.
This equipment will provide a realistic learning experience to all St. John Ambulance students, including firefighters, health care professionals, medical first response volunteers and youth participating in the babysitting course. The lifelike mannequins provide a cutting-edge learning experience and give instantaneous feedback to students while they learn.
“The Mission Statement of St. John Ambulance is to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life and that is exactly what these new training tools will contribute towards,” said Kathy Murphy Ermel, Branch Manager, St. John Ambulance Grey-Bruce-Huron. “The immediate feedback that the Prestan Manikin provides will reinforce student skills and increase confidence. We are so grateful for this vital support from Bruce Power.”
Kevin Kelly, Bruce Power’s Chief Financial Officer and Acting President, said safety is the Number One value on the Bruce site, and sharing this mindset within our communities is important as well.
“We’re very happy to assist this important organization as it trains local first responders and volunteers to save lives,” Kelly said. “Every second counts when trying to save a life, and the training apparatuses that St. John Ambulance will purchase with our donation will better prepare our residents to act quickly and efficiently in someone’s time of need.”
