Last week, Bruce Power’s Environment & Sustainability department held numerous successful Environment Week activities, both on site and in local schools.

Once again, many employees took advantage of the electronic waste collection initiative at the Bruce Power Visitors` Centre, and all proceeds from this recycling event will go to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Binder recycling and the re-use it centre also occurred all week and will continue in the future, and many employees took advantage of the free bus day last Wednesday.

Bruce Power Eco-Mentors also visited four local elementary schools and taught over 300 kids about energy conservation, waste stewardship and where their electricity comes from.

Unfortunately, the wintry weather did not allow for the scheduled on-site waste clean-up, while employees will take part in an off-site clean-up on Saturday, May 10.

The Environment & Sustainability department thanks all who took part in these activities. Remember, every day is Earth Day!
