Bruce Power salutes doctors and nurses, donating more than $600,000 to health care in 2023

May is the month in which we honour our health care professionals with Physicians Day being marked May 1 and Nursing Week May 8-14.

Bruce Power remains committed to investing in health care infrastructure locally with more than $600,000 in donations to hospitals and health care organizations in 2023. These investments contribute to the health and well-being of residents, and help ensure health care professionals have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO.

“Access to quality health care, facilities and equipment is important to our communities and our employees and their families,” Rencheck said. “We’re glad our Community Investment Fund and our Supplier Sponsorship Program can contribute to the worthwhile efforts of organizations across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.”

Between 2019 and 2023, Bruce Power contributed $1.65 million to local hospital foundations, with $250,000 each being allocated to the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation, the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation; while $100,000 was donated to each of the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, the Wingham District Hospital Foundation, Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation, Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation, Meaford Hospital Foundation, Chesley & District Health Services Foundation, Centre Grey Health Services Foundation, Durham Hospital Foundation and Hanover & District Hospital Foundation.

“Bruce Power’s commitment to local health care helps our foundation and our health care professionals to provide the best care we can to our community members,” said Tracy Murray, Executive Director, Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

In 2022, Bruce Power committed an additional $1.5 million to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation in support of its Hospital Redevelopment Campaign, while an additional $500,000 was committed from Bruce Power’s supplier partners.

“We are thankful for the support of Bruce Power and its employees and suppliers in our ongoing effort to support the health care needs of our communities,” said Becky Fair, President of the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
