Bruce Power Net Zero and Westario Power Lead the Charge to bring electric vehicle infrastructure to Hanover

Today, Bruce Power Net Zero (BPNZ) was pleased to join Westario Power to announce the installation of two new electric vehicle charging stations in Hanover as part of the companies’ shared commitment to offsetting carbon emissions and expanding clean energy use in the region.

Two new Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are ready for public use in Heritage Square and at the P & H Centre. The ChargePoint accessible charging stations were provided through Westario Power and BPNZ’s Lead the Charge EV Infrastructure in Local Communities initiative, in collaboration with the Town of Hanover.

“With a growing investment in electric vehicles in Ontario as the province works to achieve its emissions reduction targets it’s important to ensure the necessary infrastructure is in place, particularly in rural regions such as ours,” said Mike Rencheck, President and CEO of Bruce Power. “Bruce Power is pleased to partner with Westario Power and our local municipalities to accelerate the expansion of accessible EV infrastructure to help meet the growing demand and progress towards a net zero future in the Clean Energy Frontier.”

“Westario Power believes in taking action and demonstrating leadership to support clean energy initiatives, such as through Lead the Charge,” said Walter Malcolm, President and CEO of Westario Power. “Through the collective leadership demonstrated by our partners in enhancing the EV infrastructure in rural Ontario, we are contributing to growth and community wellbeing.”

“It’s a great opportunity for Hanover to be able to partner with Bruce Power Net Zero and Westario Power to have the opportunity to install two new charging stations that will support the regional EV network and help Hanover prepare for an electric vehicle future,” said Sue Paterson, Mayor, Town of Hanover. “By offering this service to our residents and promoting visitors to our downtown and entertainment districts, users can charge while they shop and participate in our attractions or at our P&H Centre.”

The Westario Power and Bruce Power partnership offers hands-on support and funding to municipalities in Bruce, Grey, and Huron to increase the availability of EV chargers to address growing needs. An expanded regional network of EV charging stations will support residents and tourists alike who travel in the Clean Energy Frontier region.
