Bruce Power launches annual fundraiser for local toy drives and hamper programs

November 7, 2023 – Bruce Power has launched its annual online fundraiser with the goal of raising more than $40,000 in cash donations for community toy and hamper programs this holiday season.

The fundraiser, organized in conjunction with the United Way of Bruce Grey, is open to employees, supplier partners, and the public, and will provide a boost for numerous local organizations, including:

  • Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation
  • Dorrell Young Christmas Program, Bruce County
  • Huron County Christmas Bureau
  • Kincardine Community Services, St. Anthony’s
  • Paisley Missionary Church
  • Port Elgin Salvation Army
  • Ripley Lions
  • Saugeen First Nation
  • Tiverton Lions
  • United Way Grey County
  • Walkerton Optimist Club
  • Women’s shelters in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties

The fundraiser is open to Bruce Power employees and contractors, as well as the public. Tax receipts will be issued.

If the original goal of $40,000 is exceeded, Bruce Power and the United Way will distribute the extra funds accordingly.

“The need in our communities is great once again this year,” said Dwight Irwin, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations. “Our annual fundraiser provides a boost for hundreds of local families through the hard-working organizations that operate these toy and hamper programs, so we encourage everybody to give if they can this holiday season.”

To donate, visit www.brucepowertoydrive.com. Donations will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20.

The toy and hamper program fundraiser is part of the annual holiday outreach program, which is a joint effort between Bruce Power and its supplier partners. The program will provide nearly $170,000 in support for food banks, warm winter clothing initiatives, and grocery store gift card donations through schools and women’s shelters in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.
