Bruce Power donates $150,000 to Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation

Bruce Power has donated $150,000 to the Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation toward the purchase of a new CT scanner that will enhance diagnostic imaging for patients across the region.

“Bruce Power believes in providing the people in our communities with the best possible health-care services and tools we need,” said James Scongack, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President. “We understand that speed can make the difference in saving lives and we are thrilled to partner with Brightshores in this very important purchase of equipment.”

More than 16,000 CT (computed tomography) procedures are performed annually at Brightshores Health System. CT scanners are a vital diagnostic tool used to provide detailed images of the body, enabling physicians to quickly and accurately diagnose strokes, cancers, internal injuries, infections and many other conditions.

The CT scanner at the Owen Sound Hospital is nearing its end of life and is in urgent need of replacement. The new scanner will offer faster, cutting-edge imaging for patients in Grey and Bruce counties. Owen Sound Hospital is also the regional stroke centre. A second CT scanner operated by Brightshores is located at its Southampton Hospital.

“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Bruce Power – a testament to our shared commitment to build thriving, healthy communities across Grey Bruce,” said Ann Ford, Brightshores President and Chief Executive Officer. “We’re very grateful for this investment. The new CT scanner will provide our health-care team with access to the advanced tools they need to deliver the highest standard of diagnostic care to patients across the region.”

Bruce Power is proud to give to local community initiatives such as this one and is committed to supporting our area during uncertain political and economic times. To learn more, check out our Canadian at our Core campaign.
