Bruce Power donates $150,000 to support 2026 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo in Bruce County

Bruce Power has donated $150,000 to support the 2026 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM), taking place right here in our backyard next September, showcasing our beautiful region and saluting our rural roots.

The 107th edition of one of Ontario’s most celebrated rural events will run Sept. 22-26, 2026, on 800 acres west of Walkerton, on the same site as the 1976 and 1993 plowing matches. The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo features a world-class plowing competition, as well as parades, concerts, demonstrations and a tented city that will welcome vendors, exhibitors, special events, as well as an RV campground – all in the spirit of celebrating the very best of Bruce County. Approximately 200,000 people are expected to pass through the gates during the five-day event.

“Hosting the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is a once in a generation opportunity and Bruce Power’s donation certainly will enable the local host committees to showcase everything that makes Bruce County a wonderful area to work, enjoy the outdoors and most importantly, to call home,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “The energy generated from this celebration of ‘The Bruce’ will have a lasting impact throughout the county for years to come.”

The 2026 IPM marks the 50th anniversary of Bruce County’s first time hosting the event.

“We’ve long been a supporter of this great event as a yearly platinum sponsor, but it’s always extra special when our community is hosting it,” said Pat Dalzell, Bruce Power’s Vice-President of Operational Service and Market Development.

Gord Lang, a local businessman and farmer is the Chairman of the 2026 IPM and says Bruce Power’s donation will help in the success of the event which has a target to disperse all net profits throughout the county, not to mention the economic spinoffs with so many visitors to the area.

“The organizing committee members are extremely grateful for this leadership pledge,” said Lang. “This is a symbolic message from a significant local business that is investing in agriculture, rural living and our community. Thank you, Bruce Power, for all you do.”
