Community Information Sessions happening in May and June to explore Bruce Power’s Bruce C Project

Bruce Power invites community members across the region to attend an upcoming in-person Community Information Session to learn more and ask questions about the proposed Bruce C Project.

With electricity demand in Ontario expected to increase significantly in the coming decades, Bruce Power is advancing long-term planning for new nuclear generation. The proposed Bruce C Project would add up to 4,800 megawatts of new nuclear generation on the existing Bruce Power site. The Project is currently undergoing a federal integrated impact assessment and is in the Impact Statement phase of that process.

As one of the world’s largest nuclear generating stations, the Bruce Power site already supplies roughly 30 per cent of Ontario’s clean electricity. A new nuclear build would help support Ontario’s Integrated Energy Plan needs while creating long-term economic opportunities and skilled jobs in the region.

This spring, Bruce Power is hosting various in-person Community Information Sessions within the tri-county area of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties. From Wiarton to Goderich to Walkerton and Saugeen Shores, beginning May 14 and into the month of June, these sessions are designed to provide an overview of the project, followed by open, informal discussions with Bruce Power subject-matter experts.

“Meaningful engagement is a critical part of the impact assessment process,” said Weina Chong, Director, Regulatory Affairs, Bruce C Project at Bruce Power. “At a time when energy is a key topic of discussion, Bruce C offers significant potential benefits for the region and for Ontario’s clean energy future. These sessions are about providing transparency, creating space for questions and feedback, and empowering communities with the knowledge they need to engage in the conversation.”

Sessions include a short presentation and opportunities for one-on-one conversations with members of the Bruce C Project team. Light refreshments are provided, and attendees will have the chance to enter a draw for a chance to win an iPad.

Dates, times and locations for upcoming Community Information Sessions are updated regularly and can be found on Bruce Power’s Engage site on the Events page
