Bruce Power has released its 2026 Sustainability Report, outlining continued progress in environmental stewardship, community investment, and responsible energy production.
The report reinforces Bruce Power’s long-standing commitment to operating safely and sustainably while delivering clean, reliable electricity and cancer-fighting medical isotopes. It highlights the company’s focus on protecting the environment, strengthening local communities, and advancing meaningful partnerships with Indigenous Nations and communities.
Bruce Power continues to play a key role in Ontario’s clean energy system, providing large volumes of non-emitting electricity that support greenhouse gas reduction goals. The company is investing in initiatives to reduce emissions, enhance efficiency, and protect the Lake Huron ecosystem through rigorous environmental monitoring and management programs.
Environmental stewardship remains central to operations, with initiatives spanning biodiversity conservation, invasive species management, water protection, and waste reduction.
As a global leader in the production of medical isotopes, Bruce Power plays a critical role in improving health outcomes worldwide. The company produces cobalt-60, which is widely used to sterilize medical equipment and treat cancer, and has increased its production of lutetium-177, used in targeted cancer therapies. Bruce Power is committed to ensuring a reliable, long-term supply of these crucial isotopes, supporting hospitals and health-care providers around the world. Through continued investment in innovation and partnerships, the company is expanding access to cancer-fighting treatments and helping improve the lives of millions of patients each year, demonstrating how large-scale nuclear reactors are also delivering profound global health benefits.
Bruce Power and the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) unveiled an historic $250-million expansion of their partnership to deliver cancer-fighting medical isotopes and create lasting economic benefits for the Chippewas of Saugeen and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nations. The financing that supports this investment is backed by a provincial guarantee through the Indigenous Opportunities Financing Program.
Since becoming the first nuclear operator in the world to issue Green Bonds in 2021, Bruce Power now has cumulatively issued $3.3 billion in Green Bonds through five offerings, including $950 million in 2025.
The report also underscores Bruce Power’s deep connection to the region and its people. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility Program, the company supports community well-being, environmental initiatives, and Indigenous priorities, while investing in health care, education, and local infrastructure.
Bruce Power emphasized its commitment to working in partnership with SON and other Indigenous communities, guided by respect, reconciliation, and shared environmental stewardship.

The Sustainability Report also outlines how Bruce Power is investing in long-term energy solutions through life-extension projects, innovation, and planning for future opportunities, while ensuring decisions are informed by science, strong environmental standards, transparency, and community engagement.
