Bruce Power is offering scholarships for Early Childhood Education (ECE) students for the third consecutive year, reinforcing its commitment to addressing the shortage of childcare professionals in Bruce County and ensuring access to quality childcare services.
“Access to childcare is crucial for workforce participation and plays a key role in economic growth,” said Karen Smith, Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Bruce Power.
“By investing in future childhood educators, we are strengthening our communities and addressing a growing need for qualified childcare professionals in the region.”
To date, Bruce Power has awarded 34 Early Childhood Education Scholarships to help offset the costs of certification and is continuing its program in 2025.
To be eligible for the Bruce Power Early Childhood Education Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be registered as a student in the Early Childhood Education program or Advanced ECE program.
- Submit a short essay (250 words) to BNPDDiversityEquityandInclusion@brucepower.com indicating why they want to be a Registered ECE and work in Bruce County.
Applicants can submit their application, essay, and proof of registration as soon as they are registered, until Sept. 30, 2025. Scholarships will be awarded by Oct. 31, 2025.
Students with a related diploma, degree, or work experience can apply to fast-track their course completion. Students can also apply to be exempt from course placement requirements if they are currently working in a licensed childcare program or have experience that meets the program’s placement and learning goals.
