Bruce Power has retained Nuclear Promise X (NPX) as its Project Management Partner for the next phase of Bruce C, supporting ongoing planning, feasibility assessments, and engagement activities related to the potential expansion of nuclear generation at the Bruce site.
Bruce Power is currently evaluating the feasibility of expanding its nuclear fleet to create a high-value option for future electricity planning in Ontario. Under this mandate, NPX will provide Project Management services and Technical Advisor support to help coordinate early assessment and feasibility activities, support the Impact Assessment process, and align technical, regulatory, and stakeholder inputs as Bruce Power advances this important initiative.
“Ontario’s demand for clean electricity is growing rapidly, and Bruce C represents a critical option for the Province’s long-term energy planning,” said Laurent Seigle, Executive Vice-President, Projects, Bruce Power. “NPX brings both the right capability as well as the innovative mindset we need, and we look forward to working together as we advance this next phase of evaluation.”
“Bruce Power continues to demonstrate leadership in planning responsibly for Ontario’s energy future,” said Bharath Nangia, Chief Executive Officer, NPX. “We think this is perhaps the most important project in Ontario and Canada, and we are proud to serve as the Project Management partner for Bruce C.”
NPX will deliver this scope in partnership with Makwa Development, a First Nation-owned and operated business specializing in construction, renovation, vegetation management, staff augmentation, and project coordination. Owned by Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation residents Scott Lee and Shane Chegahno, Makwa Development has deep roots in the local community and a strong commitment to sustainable development.
“Makwa Development is proud to partner with NPX on this important initiative,” said Scott Lee, President of Makwa Development. “This work reflects our commitment to supporting responsible development in our territory and creating meaningful opportunities for our community.”
The partnership brings together expertise, local knowledge, and Indigenous leadership to support thoughtful planning as Ontario considers further nuclear expansion.
