Bruce Power kicks off annual fundraiser for local toy drives and hamper programs

Bruce Power has launched its annual online fundraiser for numerous toy drive and hamper programs that support hundreds of local families during the holidays.

Bruce Power is encouraging its employees, contractors, supplier partners and the community-at-large to help us reach our goal of raising $55,000 for toy and hamper programs across the Clean Energy Frontier of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.

Donations can be made through www.brucepowertoydrive.com, and will be eligible for a tax receipt.

The fundraiser, organized in conjunction with the United Way of Bruce Grey, will raise money for:

  • Beaver Valley Outreach
  • Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation
  • Dorrell Young Christmas Program, Bruce County
  • Dundalk Food Bank
  • Durham and District Food Bank
  • Flesherton Food Bank
  • Huron County Christmas Bureau
  • Kincardine Community Services
  • Lions Head Food Bank
  • Markdale Food Bank
  • Meaford Food Bank
  • Paisley Missionary Church
  • Ripley Lions Club
  • Saugeen First Nation Toy Drive
  • Salvation Army in Hanover, Owen Sound, Port Elgin, Wiarton
  • Tara Toy Drive
  • Tiverton Lions Club
  • Tobermory Food Bank
  • Walkerton Optimist Club
  • Women’s shelters in Bruce, Grey, Huron and Saugeen Ojibway Nation

If the original goal of $55,000 is exceeded, Bruce Power and the United Way will distribute the extra funds accordingly.

“With the rising prices of food and housing, it has been a difficult year for many families in our region, so we’re excited to once again support the work of these important community organizations as we approach the holiday season,” said Maggie Tieman, Bruce Power’s Director of Community and External Affairs. “We hope, if you’re able, you’ll give generously to these community groups that are dedicated to making the holidays brighter for so many local families during the holidays.”

Donations made through www.brucepowertoydrive.com will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24.

The toy and hamper program fundraiser is part of Bruce Power’s annual holiday outreach program, which is a joint effort between the company and its supplier partners. This holiday season, the program will provide more than $325,000 to local food banks, warm winter clothing initiatives, local homeless shelters and community meal programs, and grocery store gift card donations through schools and women’s shelters in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.
