Bruce Power supports community Pride parades

In keeping with its commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace and in the community, Bruce Power is pleased to sponsor Grey Bruce Pride’s Owen Sound Pride Parade on June 18 and the Kincardine Pride Parade, taking place June 25.

Bruce Power shares the same vision as these local organizations, which have a mission to promote an inclusive community by hosting annual family friendly Pride Parades and celebrations, as well as other events throughout the year.

“At Bruce Power, we’re working to ensure our workplace is free from discrimination and that we provide an inclusive environment for all employees,” said Chris Mudrick, Chief Nuclear Officer. “Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee works to ensure we welcome members from the LGBTQ2S+ community and that we have equitable programs to support equal opportunities in the workplace for everyone, including women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities and Indigenous peoples.”

Fort Papalia, President of Kincardine Pride, said it’s great to see the community come together for this event.

“Kincardine Pride is honoured to have the sponsorship of this area’s community leader, Bruce Power, in our efforts to promote Kincardine as an LGBTQ2S+ welcoming community,” he said. “Bruce Power has shown its commitment to inclusiveness, diversity and equity through its donations, HR policies and visible representations for many years.”

Rachel Paterson, Chair of the Owen Sound Pride Parade, said Grey Bruce Pride appreciates Bruce Power’s support.

“Bruce Power is one of our leading sponsors and we are thrilled with the opportunity of visibility this helps us create for our community,” Paterson said. “Bruce Power is one of our leading employers within the trades and we recognize the need for safe workspaces for their employees and community members.”

As part of its commitment to progress on its diversity, equity and inclusion journey, Bruce Power partnered with Diversio, a Canadian-owned business, to perform an in-depth internal audit consisting of interviews with organizational leaders and program owners to evaluate their programs, policies and procedures to identify further areas of opportunity and support the growth of inclusion.
