Bruce Power was proud to be the Presenting Sponsor of the Owen Sound Attack’s Hockey Fights Cancer charity game on Oct. 28.
The company donated $25,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society at the game, which saw the Attack defeat the Kitchener Rangers 5-3. One-hundred per cent of the proceeds from the game go toward research and cancer programs, including transportation and lodging services for local people living with cancer.
“This game was very special as it highlighted local survivors and honoured the ground-breaking research these sponsorship dollars support locally and nationwide,” said James Scongack, Bruce Power’s Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice-President of Operational Services, who dropped the ceremonial puck to start the game.
“Bruce Power is a world leader in the production of medical isotopes such as cobalt-60 and lutetium-177, which help people around the world in their fight against cancer.”
Bruce Power employee Todd Thompson was featured in a video played during the game, highlighting his battle with prostate cancer. Thompson holds an annual fundraiser that has raised nearly $75,000 for Movember over the past four years.
